
The position advertised is a Senior Tutor (full-time) permanent position within the Student Learning Centre (a division of the Centre for Academic Development, CAD). The main purpose of this position is to lead and coordinate the wide range of instruction and support provided for students through the Student Learning Centre’s Undergraduate Skills Development Programme. The person appointed will be expected to lead the undergraduate skills development team in liaising with appropriate faculty/department/support staff and student groups of the University to ensure that the programme effectively meets the learning development requirements of undergraduate students. The person appointed will be expected to contribute to the wider work of the SLC and other divisions of CAD as appropriate.
You will hold a postgraduate qualification at Master's level or higher; have experience in teaching and/or providing learning support for students at the university level/adult learners; experience of co-ordinating staff and resources in a complex environment; excellent written and oral communication skills; a high level of computer and IT literacy skills and good knowledge/experience of developments in e-learning and Information and Communication Technology; an ability to relate well to diverse groups of students (e.g., Maori, Pasifika, English as an additional language students, international students); experience in developing academic learning skills and/or other teaching resources; an ability to work well independently, and as part of a team; and an ability to work outside of regular work hours (e.g., some evenings and weekends - with time in lieu adjustments) to conduct workshops when required for specific groups of students.
