Reviews of Decile Ratings
Each year a school can seek a decile review if it believes there has been a significant change in the school’s roll profile since the original assessment was made.
Reviews are made only once each year because specialist staff are required to analyse Census data, which is the basis of the five elements which make up the decile. Applications for review must be received by the Ministry by Friday 24 September.
To apply for a decile review, schools need to supply information which is outlined in the application pack.
Schools will be notified of review outcomes before the end of the 2010 school year. In cases where reviews result in the decile being lowered, the increased funding will apply from the beginning of the 2011 school year. (The school will receive a revised entitlement notice.)
Application forms and information sheets about how to apply are available from the Ministry of Education’s national office.
