Vacancies
Schools and education institutions can submit Vacancies online. Vacancy notices should be no longer than 55 words (address details are not included in the word count).
Please fill in all boxes on the Submit Vacancy page, and click Submit. (Notices will not be accepted without the name of the authorising person and their daytime phone number.) Vacancies will appear on the Gazette Online within two working days, and will appear in the print version of the Education Gazette on the date/s specified.
School types
School types are indicated by a letter code on the title line. State schools are uncoded. These letter codes are: (A) Area schools, (I) Integrated schools, (I, A) Integrated Area schools, (R) Registered Private (Independent) schools.
Integrated schools
Location is indicated on the title line for integrated schools, because of large numbers of similarly named schools
For 'tagged' positions where special requirements must be stated, the maximum word limit is 70 words per position, but schools are encouraged to be as succinct as possible. Integrated advertisements not stating a tag should observe the usual 55 word limit (address details are not included in the word count).
Assistant Principal/Deputy Principal Vacancies
Any consequential vacancy of the assistant principal position arising from the appointment of the incumbent assistant principal to the position of deputy principal while retaining their original sector responsibilities, may be filled from the original field of applicants. Applicants should state clearly if they wish to be considered for any consequential assistant principal vacancy.
Mataraunga Maori
Positions in the Mataraunga Maori section are for use by any kura kaupapa Maori or school wishing to advertise any management or teaching positions that are Maori medium or have a strong emphasis on teaching in te reo or tikanga Maori. This section may also be used for English medium positions in a school with strong kaupapa Maori.
Equal Employment Opportunities
Attention is drawn to the State Sector Act 1988 and the Human Rights Act 1993, in so far as they apply to equal employment opportunities. In each process associated with recruitment selection, ie. the personal development of the job description, the person specification, the advertisement and the appointment process, EEO principles should apply. These principles are to be applied to enable people to pursue their careers without their chances being reduced by factors which are irrelevant to the requirements under consideration. Employers and applicants are referred to the appropriate collective agreement for details of conditions of service applicable to the position advertised.

Information for applicants
Applicants should ensure that inquiries and applications are directed to the association concerned. An application is valid only for the vacancy number(s) shown on it. Applications must be on each association's standard form. Applicants should note that it is in their interests to to ensure they have recent referees' reports. New reports may be forwared at any time but only three can be used for an application. A faxed application form will be accepted provided that it is received no later than the closing time published in that particular Education Gazette and provided that the full application is received within five working days of the specified closing date.

Notices
Notices must contain information relevant to teachers, principals or trustees. Notices from outside the Ministry of Education will be published at the Editor's discretion. Items are generally eligible for free listings if they are funded from Vote:Education, are provided by other government departments, or by charitable concerns. Other commercial or private organisations are invited to place advertisements in the New Zealand Education Gazette, the Gazette Online or in our classifieds sections.
Notices will also be listed in the print version of the New Zealand Education Gazette on the date specified. Notices may appear only once per school term.
Word limit: The word limit for notices in the Education Gazette is 70 words per notice.
Notices about course listings will be subject to a further limit allowing no more than one sentence for the description of the course and one sentence for information about the course facilitator. Listings for qualifications such as degrees should describe the program of study, but should not list the various courses that make up that program.
When submitting a Notice, please fill in all of the boxes on the Submit Notices page and select a category that best describes the Notice from the list below. Please note that Notices will not be accepted without the name of the authorising person and their daytime phone number. After completing the Submit Notice form, click "Submit" to send. Please do not submit Notices more than once.
