Vacancy information for state and state-integrated secondary, area and primary schools, and early childhood services.
Your obligations are set out in Section 77H of the State Sector Act 1988, the relevant collective agreements and the Human Rights Act 1993.
This table outlines collective agreement entitlements when advertising teacher, principal and early childhood vacancies.

- You should advertise vacancies in the Education Gazette both in print and online, or online only. However, you must advertise in the Education Gazette for roles that come under the secondary and area teacher and secondary principal agreements)
- Advertisements should specify a closing date
- You should not remove advertisements from the Education Gazette before the closing date

| Secondary Teachers’ Collective Agreement and Area School Teachers’ Collective Agreement |

You must advertise in the Education Gazette all:
- permanent full-time and part-time positions
- long-term relieving positions (longer than one school term)
- fixed-term full-time positions longer than one school term.
- You must re-advertise regraded positions that are new permanent positions or are longer than one school term
- Each advertisement must have a closing date of at least 14 days after the advertisement first appears
- You may not appoint any candidate to the position before the advertisement’s closing date
- You do not have to advertise if you are allocating fixed-term units to an existing employee
- You do not have to advertise when, an existing permanent full-time position transfers to a permanent part-time position in the same school.

- All positions of at least one year long must be advertised nationally.

- You must advertise all permanent and all long-term relieving positions that are longer than one year.

| Early Childhood Education Collective Agreement |
- All positions of at least one year long must be advertised nationally.
- If a permanent unit is allocated and there is no vacancy attached to the unit, you do not need to advertise externally.
